立春の２月４日に、京大病院こども医療センターのプレイルームにてジャグリングショーを実施しました。今年初めての訪問です。プレイルームに来てくれる子どもたちも段々増えて、たくさん笑ってもらえて嬉しかったです。
感染症対策のため、病院内は外よりもかなり暑く、マスク着用も必須です。まだ２月にもかかわらず、大汗をかきながらのパフォーマンスになりました。
節分に合わせて、壁には青鬼の絵が貼られていました。病棟内に長くいると季節感が失われがちです。子どもたちに少しでも季節を感じてもらえるように、看護師やボランティアの皆さんが装飾をしています。
子どもたちは豆まきが好きです。鬼は怖いけど子どもたちに不思議と人気がありますね。

On February 4th, I performed comedy juggling at the pediatric ward of Kyoto University Hospital. It was my first hospital visit of 2026, and seeing the children’s smiles made me very happy.
The hospital was much warmer than outside, and I wore a mask to prevent infections. Even in February, I was sweating
Since it’s easy to lose a sense of the seasons inside a hospital, the nurses and volunteers decorate the walls with seasonal designs.
The blue characters on the wall (pictured here) are “Ao-oni,” or blue demons. They are related to Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event on February 3rd that marks the end of winter. On this day, people throw roasted soybeans to drive away demons and invite good luck.
Although onis usually look scary, they are surprisingly popular with children.
